So they changed the sophomore schedule pick up to Wednesday- major bummer.

School forms have come (via mail)!!

Greetings,
So we all know the boring forms our parents fill out year after year; emergency card, waiver for media/electronics/sex ed, etc. Then there is the bell schedule, which never changes, and the school year bulletin; which includes the date for schedule pick up- a week from tomorrow. Which works out great seeing as I will be at the school from about 9:30 AM- 5:30 PM anyway (for a mini-camp). So I'll just run by the commons during lunch break and snag my schedule for semester 1 of my sophomore year! I'll post my schedule when I get home that very day.

Much love.

School Supplies

Everyone needs a good school supplies list to start the year off well.
So, after some research I have composed a list of items that will help with organization and overall success.

  • mechanical pencils and extra lead
  • No. 2 pencils
  • pens (blue or black ink)
  • highlighters
  • at least one sharpie
  • colored pencils
  • big eraser
  • about six 3-ring binders; one for each class
  • dividers
  • folders (same rule as binders)
  • planner (if your school doesn't provide one)
  • single subject spiral notebooks (perforated, college ruled- same rule as binders and folders)
  • loose leaf paper
  • construction paper
  • printing paper
  • 3x5 index cards
  • Post-It notes
  • Post-it flags
  • a few bookmarks
  • paper clips
  • flashdrive
  • calculator
  • glue sticks
  • public library card
  • stapler
  • 3-hole puncher
  • ruler with US and metric measurements
  • aluminum or stainless steel water bottle
  • sturdy backpack
It is also helpful keep an inventory of these supplies throughout the year so you never have to do last minute shopping for a project.

Sophomore Year

Welcome.

My name is Gina and this fall I will start the tenth grade, my sophomore year of high school.

Here's a little bit about me:
I am a member of my school's marching band, this is my 3rd season- I was a prefresh allowing me to be a member in middle school.
I do not currently play any sports, but have many friends that do; and who knows- maybe I'll wind up joining a team.
I am just an average student, not crazy popular and not a loner.
I have 6 siblings; 5 brothers and 1 sister.
My parents are divorced.
My dad has diabetes and is bipolar.
My mom is an entrance attendant at the local hospital.
I babysit frequently.
I am a member of the Royal Oak Vineyard church and head staff of the nursery.
I have my learner's permit.

Throughout this coming school year, I will post entries in this blog about life as a sophomore at a public school.

The point of this is to give readers something to relate to, maybe some advice, and an inside look of a teenager's life.

Enjoy.
